Having trouble finding a replacement for your older model Mitsubishi PLC?
The FX Family
| The FX family of PLCs is highly flexible, enabling fast and efficient configuration for the application at hand. It is the ideal choice for simple control systems requiring up to 34 I/O (FX1S), or a more complex system with up to 384 I/Os (FX3U). |

»The following information is presented in an effort to "de-mystify" some of the models for which there is little information. Additionally, there is a source for S O M E of these units. NOT in every case, but at least in some, there are some options - some "replacements". These replacements are brand new, not rebuilt or remanufactured. They are made on the same assembly line as your original Mitsubishi, with the same quality parts. In fact, they even carry the same warranty!

If you have one of these models, you may be able to upgrade to a FX1s or FX1n (more probably FX3G and FX3U). The problem with the F, F1, and F2, is retrieving the program. The hand-held programmer and the serial interface units are no longer available, so there is no way to "download" the program for use in the new PLCs. Interface cables are available for the FX, FXo and FXos. MEDOC programming software is still available, but you need a cable for the FX and/or FXos. If you are lucky enough to have the interface unit (i.e. F2-20GF1 or F-Link) for the F1/F2, MEDOC will work and allow you to download. (By the way, the F2-20GF1, F-Link and A-Link are worth their weight in gold).

Having trouble figure out which cable is which? Check Here...
Things to remember.
PCX-CBL-9P and PCX-CBL-25P
There are known communication problems with this cable and certain older model laptops that haveswitching Power Supplies and the A1NCPU.
This cable works with the AnN, AnA, AnS, F, F1, F2, FX, FX0, FX0N, FX0S series PLCs. To use this cable with the FX0, FX0N, FX0S PLCs, a FX-20P-CADP is requried. This cable can still be purchased. Contact your local Sales Representive.
Because of the known problems, it is suggested that you not use this cable with newer model Notebook computers.
These computers do not provide enough power through the com port to properly power the converter.
Some units do not provide any power through the com port.
It is suggested that you use an SC09 for all FX and A Series PLCs and use the PCX-KIT-1 for all F/F1/F2 PLCs.
PCX-KIT-1
Because of the known problems with the PCX-CBL-9/25P, Mitsubishi put together the PCX-KIT-1. This setup includes cables, the RS-232 to RS-422 converter and a power supply for the converter. This cable works with all Mitsubishi PLCs. The PCX-KIT-1 is the prefered cable for communications with F, F1 and F2 PLCs. This is the only cable Mitsubishi supports for use with these PLCs. The PCX-KIT-1 is also requried for connection of a GPP to your PC.
The NEW kid in town : AX-232AW-S
Just about any one who has ever worked with Mitsubishi PLCs, has at one time or another used the SC-90, whether they remember it or not. The SC-09 is a great cable. There is a new "kid" in town however, that is giving the SC-09 a "run for its money". The AX-232 AW-S is basically the same as the SC-09, but is primarily intended to be marketed in Asia. UPSIDE? The AX-232A2-S has - on the connector shell which contains the electroncs (the RS422 to RS232 Converter) - "Link" and "Transmit" LEDs. This is an awesome addition, and can really help "de-mystify" some communication problems. DOWNSIDE? It is grey instead of red. We know that is a big disappointment to some, but it seems you can't have everything. UPSIDE ? (Part Deux) The AX232-AW-S is about 10% less money than the SC-09.
