PCS News No. 506 from HITACHI Europe GmbH.

We are pleased to inform you that we have new enhanced CPU modules for the EH-150 series. The ordering numbers are EH-CPU104A / 208A / 308A / 316A.

We will sell out the existing EH-CPU104 / 208 / 308 / 316 models to eventually be replaced by the new models, and existing orders will be automatically changed to the new type.

New functions and commands:

Function Command CPU104A CPU208A CPU308A CPU316A
Support EH-ETH   - -
Support EH-LNK / OLINK   - -
5ms cyclic scan INT 0
RS-422 / 485 with programming port (H-Protocol on port 1)   - -
ASCII conversion FUN 30 - 43
Merge / compare strings FUN 44 - 45
Word / byte conversion FUN 46 - 47
Byte shift FUN 48 - 49
Square root / Dynamic scan FUN 60 - 61
Increment / Decrement FUN 123-126
Modem calling TRNS 8 -
TRNS 0 data size expanded (byte) TRNS 0 / RECV 0 - 1024 1024 1024

Processing speed of binary command, program size and specifications other than above are the same.

Note

1. INT number is shifted as below:

  INT 0 INT 1 INT 2 INT 3
EH-CPUxxx 10 ms 20 ms 40 ms -
EH-CPUxxxA 5 ms 10 ms 20 ms 40 ms

2. Processing speed of several commands are improved. Please mind total scan time of the enhanced CPU can be shorter.

3. Internal timer updating way is changed. Timer value was updated every 10 ms for existing CPU. Instead of that ,it is updated only when the timer command is executed for the enhanced CPU.

4. System processing (communication etc.) time can be changed as same way as CPU448.

5. Internal processing of "online change during RUN" is improved for fast CPU response. In case of existing CPU downloaded user program, communication once stops and starts again after FLASH memory written. But the enhanced CPU starts communication just after downloading. After the CPU writes program from SRAM to FLASH memory. Writing flag R7EF is high while FLASH memory written, which takes 2 minutes at maximum. Please do not turn off the power during this process. If it is done and the battery is empty, the user program can be lost.

6. Values in the following registers are kept in FLASH memory automatically. If they are overwritten many times, every scan cycle for example, life time of the FLASH memory can end in a short time. They are recommended to be written manually before RUN or once in user program by using R7E3 (1st scan ON).
